My wife Fabi and I just returned from a month-long trip to southern Brazil. It’s all too common in the Vila, kids without hope or vision and suffering in poverty are tempted to drop out of school and turn to a life of crime. Lack of food, safety and opportunity breed fear, frustration and generational desperation… and we want to help.
This is why The Way Global is so important. Every Saturday at 1:30pm, kids come, bibles in hand, to study God’s word and learn about the hope we have in Jesus Christ. For three years we’ve been meeting in the Vila, teaching about God’s love and His plan of salvation. Kids memorize scripture, study their bibles and discuss what it means to follow Jesus. After bible study, they learn English, play games, eat good food and then start the guitar lesson. The Way is a safe place where kids enjoy Christ centered fellowship and find hope for the future.
Marya was invited to our bible study from a local after school program. Now she is a student leader, oversees our library. Her smile is heartwarming and her desire to learn about Jesus is inspiring.
William is excited to learn how to play the guitar. He has many goals and dreams for the future like acquiring computer skills and visiting the USA one day. William has been very sick lately and spent several weeks in the hospital. Please help us pray for healing.
Rodalfo is a third generation resident of the Vila. He’s an above average 9 year old but is unchallenged at school. He excels in The Way English and guitar classes and we are searching for other ways to try and meet his potential.
Sara reads her bible in both Portuguese and English. She taught herself English using YouTube. Sara struggles with autism and works hard to memorize the weekly scripture. She is a gifted artist and helps me translate English to Brazilian Portuguese. The other kids are all equally amazing, and we hope you get to know them by joining us Saturdays on Zoom.
God is good. He has faithfully provided for The Way these past three years. During our month in Brazil, we were able find a better location to hold our meetings and a local church that preaches the Word. We purchased a new laptop, camera and microphones for our Zoom meetings, 5 guitars, some folding tables and chairs and a locking metal cabinet. Our English class is now online using a program called Mango. We found a guitar teacher at a local church and 9 kids are signed up for guitar lessons starting this month.
The vision for The Way is growing. We see now more than ever the need to inspire the kids to work hard and seek God’s plan for their lives. We are grounding the kids in Scripture and preparing them for the false teachers and religions, waiting at every turn to destroy their faith. We plan to offer new skills that inspire hope for the future. We want to buy a property and build a youth retreat where kids come to study the bible, learn new skills, play soccer, eat, pray, sing and enjoy God’s beautiful creation. Please pray with us for the right property and the funds to purchase and operate it.
Please consider supporting The Way Global and help pay for new bibles, the English program, chess dues, guitar lessons, school materials, our helpers, food costs and rent. We need you to keep the mission going and to reach more kids inthe Vila with hope and good news of Jesus Christ.
