About us

The Way began in 2023. We invited about 60 kids from a local after school program, in a small Vila in Porto Alegre, Brazil, to attend a Zoom bible study. Our first meeting was 5 young people. Three years later, about 14 kids participate regularly, studying God's word, memorizing Scripture, doing life together and learning to be followers of Jesus.

Every Saturday we meet on Zoom, led by founders Nathan and Fabiana Krey, from Steamboat Springs, Colorado (USA). The bible study is translated from English to Brazilian Portuguese in real time by Fabi. Several local volunteers help set up meetings, transport kids, lead games and make lunch. The Way currently borrows space at a volunteer’s house. We are hoping to find a permanent and larger meeting location for the future, as the group continues to grow.

After year one, we added English class following the bible study. With help from a program called Mango, Fabi and an older student lead the weekly English class. We are building a small library and encourage the kids to read books like C.S. Lewis's, Chronicles of Narnia or Jack London's, Call of the Wild. Some of the kids attend weekly chess club. Jonas, our chess star, places top three in most local tournaments and the professor says all our students show great potential. Our latest program addition is guitar class, right after English. A local instructor teaches chords and basic music theory and the kids really love learning to play.  The Way is encouraging kids in the Vila to discover new hobbies and learn new skills that will no doubt help them in the future. It is fun watching them grow and witnessing God’s living word changing their lives.

The Way Global is honored to serve the youth of Porto Alegre, these past 3 years. Our youth are not the future of the church, they are the church right now, a light in the darkness, in their schools, to their neighbors in the Vila. They are learning about God's love, studying and memorizing Scripture, believing in Jesus, following Jesus and inviting their friends to The Way bible study.

The Way Global is growing. We need your help to purchase new bibles, journals, chess club, English resources, guitars, a bus to transport kids to the bible study and church, and eventually, a bigger meeting space. Pray about your part in this. We would love to answer any questions. Some plant seeds, others water, but God gives the increase. We can all work together to share the good news of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
